Projected Image was the brainchild of Jim Douglas. After leaving  Vari-Lite his vision for the company was to “manufacture and deliver high quality, affordable custom gobos to the worldwide Live Events Industry”  This customer base is now getting wider and more varied stretching from retail to commercial safety signage.

Originally based from August 1999 in East London, Projected Image relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne during 2006 and settled into new premises at Hoults Yard, the former Victorian Pottery. From our purpose built manufacturing plant we now had the infrastructure in place to deliver across the UK, Europe and the rest of the word.

Expansion followed with new technologies, two purpose-built laser ablation systems and a new creative team (you can watch a video here on how we make our gobos). Experiencing rapid growth, we quickly became Europe’s premier custom manufacturing plant, servicing an expanding global client list. The future looks bright for the British owned company, with continued investment in staff training, a new e-commerce platform, and CRM, plus improvements to our laser Technology which have enabled us to produce High Definition Gobos long before other manufacturers.

The latest product range of stunningly bright IP65 Gobo Projectors are available ‘off the shelf’ and are suitable for a whole range of commercial, retail and branding applications.
